Harvard University was ranked No. 1 among the world's top universities by reputation, according to the Times Higher Education World Reputation Rankings 2013. The rankings were based on a survey of academic opinion, featuring 48,000 responses from senior, published scholars,
which provide a rich and unique insight into the academic prestige of
universities across the globe, according to the Times Higher Education. Harvard is America's oldest institution of higher
learning, founded 140 years before the Declaration of Independence
was signed. The University has grown from nine students with a
single master programme to an enrollment of over 18,000 degree
candidates. It is offering undergraduate programmes to students in
10 principal academic units. An additional 13,000 students are
enrolled in one or more courses in the Harvard Extension School.
More than 14,000 people work at Harvard, which includes more than
2000 faculty members. There are also 7,000 faculty appointments in
affiliation teaching hospitals. Harvard University's ranking in the
2011 edition of Best Colleges in National Universities is No. 1.
The university is dedicated towards providing quality education,
